Aurora CTF 2025

That’s a wrap on our first Aurora CTF! We saw over 50 university students come along to BT One Braham in Central London for a day of hacking and networking. There were over 30 challenges covering a wide range of topics: OSINT, Cryptography, Reverse Engineering, Web Attacks, and so many more. We even had two industry professionals deliver talks to the room!

Our Founding

And technically, this wasn’t even an ‘Aurora’ CTF. At least not at the time! On the day of the event, we were just five friends hoping to pull off something ambitious. But when we realised it was working, we didn’t want it to be over. So we formed Aurora CTF, a brand-new, student-led organisation with the primary goal of bringing university students from across the UK together into a likeminded community. Our mission is to promote skill development and networking within the cybersecurity space, and to launch students into a career in cyber. We’ll be hosting a CTF just like this every year, and we’re in the process of developing other events and campaigns, including regular blog posts like this one, to share informative, educational content.

Looking Ahead

With that in mind, we’ve already started talking about the next event. The 2026 Aurora CTF promises to be even bigger and better than this year’s, but it will take support from many different people. We’re going to be on the lookout for corporate partners, sponsors, and industry speakers, who share our passion for events such as this, to help fund this next event and keep Aurora CTF free for everyone to take part in.

Please don’t hesitate to get in contact if you think this might be you or your business. We’d love to hear from you. You can reach us at [email protected], fill out the form on the Contact page, or get in touch via our Linkedin

All the best,

Alex
